The 2016 growing season in Hawke’s Bay was slow to start, with a cool, late Spring. The Summer that followed brought consistently warm days from January through to March which meant the vines caught up and vintage although later was back on track. Longer hang time for the Chardonnay has resulted in wines exhibiting real restraint and elegance, with beautiful acidity and pure lemon, citrus tones.

Hand-harvested at 'select vineyard sites', the stylish 2016 vintage (4.5*) was fermented and lees-aged for a year in French oak casks (25 percent new). Pale lemon/green, it has a fragrant, fresh bouquet, showing very good complexity. Mouthfilling, it is youthful, with concentrated, grapefruit-like flavours, well-integrated, biscuity oak adding complexity, balanced acidity and excellent cellaring potential; best drinking 2019+.
